Polypropylene sanitary wastewater fittings
Sanitary engineering has experienced such an outstanding development in the last ten years that has got no match since mains water was introduced.
Not only new technologies appeared but new materials. As zinc-coated iron pipes were replaced by copper and then by plastic, the necessary tools and first of all expertise had to be improved as well.
Precise design of wastewater disposal is one of the most important part of sanitary engineering. BTH Fitting Ltd has been dealing with this field of activity for many years. We have been producing PVC sewage and sanitary wastewater fittings in Vadna since 2000. Continuous development is a must to keep pace with the newest trends of the market, therefore in the spring of 2007 we started the production of polypropylene sanitary fittings as well.
Why is the change necessary?
PVC is traditionally used, well-tried material. There are, however some differences which we do not take notice of during everyday work: no heavy metal salts are used when producing polypropylene fittings, therefore there is no damaging environment pollution.
Another significant advantage of PP is its good heat tolerance.
PP sanitary wastewater systems tolerate water temperature of more than 60 C° without suffering permanent deformation. According to the old regulation only PP sanitary wastewater systems can be installed in canteens and restaurants. It is also to be mentioned that PP can easily handle not only hot but cold temperature as well. It is important when installation works must be done under low temperature conditions, as polypropylene does not lose its flexibility. Besides all the above, it resists to extreme reactions. Neither strongly acidic (2 pH) nor strongly alkaline (12 pH) liquid can damage it.
The PP raw material used by BTH Fitting Ltd. complies with the strictest standards, granule is purchased only from the most reliable suppliers.
Last but not least, the installation of PP systems does not differ from the PVC systems in practice, there is no need to attend a course to learn it. However, one thing must be taken into consideration: PP can not be glued. A good plumber uses coupler (KAU) even for PVC connections, but in case of PP systems nobody can apply other methods than this. It is to be mentioned that the two systems can be connected to each other without problem, sizes of the sockets are according to the standard and the gaskets inside comply with each other.
It is also important to know that the standard sizes of PP comply with those of PVC, that is, 32, 40, 50, 110 mm .
Its marking, however, differ from PVC, which is marked by KA. The marking of PP fittings starts with letters HT. For example, products made from PVC are marked as KAB 50/45 or KAR 50/32, while products from PP are marked as HTB 50/45 or HTR 50/32.
The decision of BTH Fitting Ltd to widen its product range with Polypropylene fittings was based on these facts.
